A few years ago, I signed up with a hosting company called <a title="Hostupon" href="http://www.stuartstirlingonline.com/likes/hostupon" target="_blank"><span style="font-weight: bold;">HostUpon</span></a> after using <a title="Hostgator" href="http://stuartstirlingonline.com/likes/hostgator" target="_blank"><strong>HostGator</strong></a> for about a year. I was happy with Hostgator for the most part, but sometimes the customer service let me down and their prices for a reseller account was too much for my liking.</p>
<p>So after a couple of hours of searching for a quality and affordable reseller hosting alternative, I found HostUpon. And I&#8217;m happy to say I&#8217;ve been with them since (2007 or so) and have been very pleased with both their service and price.</p>
<p>I still recommend Hostgator if you need cheap simple hosting (not a reseller account), but <strong>I recommend Hostupon of you&#8217;re looking for a reseller hosting account.</strong></p>
<p>The benefits of a reseller account is that you can control all your domains from the one central WHM. This is what you need if you have a lot of domains and websites.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Benefits of HostUpon</span></p>
<p>Here are the benefits of the Hostupon reseller plan offer that got my attention and decision to join: (basically all the best benefits are listed right on the from page of the site. but I&#8217;ll list them below)</p>
<ul>
<li>Free account transfer and site migration (as I already had over 30 sites with Hostgator)</li>
<li>24-7 / 365 day support (excellent support!)</li>
<li>Use of private nameservers</li>
</ul>

<p>As soon as I signed up, I contacted support via live chat and sorted out the account and site migration. That took less than a few hours. Great!</p>
<p>Then over the next few days I was able to ask them more questions to make sure I knew everything about the service and the support tickets were answered promptly and friendly.</p>
<p>Of course, all the domain accounts use Cpanel (I refuse to use anything but) and with the reseller account, I have access to my own WHM where I can access all my domains and their cpanels.</p>
<p>Installing scripts like <a title="Wordpress for Newbies" href="http://infosteals.com/wpsites4newbies/" target="_blank">WordPress</a> is done with just a couple of clicks via the Fantastico dashboard which is included. They have many other scripts available too like PHPmotion and Joomla and other popular scripts.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Price</span></p>
<p>The pricing system that caught me a bit off guard at first. When it came time to order my reseller account plan (15 GB), it stated it&#8217;s monthly price for just $12.95/mth. This blew my mind as I was paying $49.95 per month at Hostgator (and I wasn&#8217;t using all the space om Hostgator).</p>
<p>After clicking through to order, there came more options of plans. It turns out that the <strong>$12.95 per month</strong> was only if you purchased 12 month contract of hosting at one time. It was a little misleading, and it would be a bother if you didn&#8217;t have a lump sum of cash lying around to pay up front. But if you can afford to pay 12 months in advance, then this would be the best option.</p>
<p>The price went up if you want a single month (month by month) subscription or 6 month subscription. I went with the 6 month subscription for $18.95 per month as I know how hosting situations can change. (I didn&#8217;t want to be locked in for a long time and then have to change for some sudden reason).</p>
<p>But <span style="font-style: italic;">considering the 15% discount</span>, that initial price for 6 months hosting came to just over $100.</p>
<p><strong>99.9% Up Time?</strong></p>
<p>Hostupon advertise they have 99.9% uptime which is one of the crucial points you want when looking for hosting. There is nothing worse than having your site down. A site that&#8217;s down is useless.. in the case of making sales and when you want to work on it.</p>
<p>I can vouch for Hostupon having superb uptime. <strong><em>Of course there have been downtimes</em></strong> which I&#8217;ve had to log a support ticket to find out what was going on, but I always got a quick, friendly response with an apology and explanation. I&#8217;d say the longest my sites were offline at any one time was less than 10 hrs.. but usually when there is downtime, my sites were usually back up within a  couple of hours most.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Quality Support</span></p>

They have been great from the very first day.</p>

<p>When he told me, I wanted to share it with you because I’ll bet there’s a good chance you can relate to it as I did.</p>
<p>Here we go&#8230;</p>
<p><em>&#8220;A woman I have known since high school recently called to tell me about a cosmetics business she was starting. She had spent several years developing her own line of natural skin treatments and had shared them with others, who raved about them.</em></p>
<p><em>Encouraged by their reactions, she decided to go forward.</em></p>
<p><em>She’d spent two or three years and all of her money packaging a dozen products and producing all sorts of ancillary materials. She told me about the new labels she was designing, the contracts she was negotiating, the shopping she was doing for retail space.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>“But have you tried to sell anything?”</strong> I asked her.</em></p>
<p><em>“Everything’s not about selling,” she scolded me. “When the time is right, my products will sell.”</em></p>
<p><em>Because she’s a good friend, I kept pestering her, hoping she would do what she had to do to get her business going. But as far as she was concerned, her business was already up and running. She was busy day and night working on it, and she was spending all kinds of money.</em></p>

<p>This is an interesting story isn’t it? Can you see where she was going wrong?</p>
<p>Personally, <strong>I wasted my first year &#8216;pretending&#8217; to be in business and being busy</strong> just as the woman in this story had.</p>
<p>I was busy. I was spending money. I was getting organized, reading all the ebooks, attending all of the training calls, and trying to set up my website and market it.</p>
<p>I thought once things were ready, when<em> &#8216;the time is right&#8217;,</em> everything was going to fall into place and I was going to be rich, but…<strong>the sales never came UNTIL I started advertising my offers.</strong></p>
<p>When the majority of entrepreneurs start their businesses, they spend their time, money, and efforts on building an infrastructure designed to support their 100th sale… Nice office equipment, a new headset for their phone, an 800 number, fancy new business cards, and 100’s of brochures and info packets to hand out.</p>
<p>Yet, <strong>all that really matters is getting that FIRST sale</strong>. Until that happens, everything else is just wasted energy.</p>
<p>- People who think business is done in this order, “Get organized, get everything perfect&#8230;then sell.” Usually fail.</p>
<p>- People who finally realize business is really done in this order, “Sell first, then get organized.” Usually win.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, many people are scared of the idea of selling. It conjures up images of arm-twisting and manipulation, followed by rejection.</p>
<p>This is why it’s always pushed to the last item on the business “to-do” list. But in reality, it doesn’t have to be that way and it shouldn&#8217;t be.</p>
<p>Selling can be the most rewarding process in the world when both sides feel like they’ve come out winners.</p>
<p><strong><em>So forget about waiting until your product or sales letter or sales funnel being perfect &#8211; get out there and start selling like a maniac!</em></strong></p>
<p>First, you must have a good product. You need to have confidence in your products or service in order to be able to market it with 100% confidence &#8211; but don&#8217;t over-think it.</p>
<p>Of course, you don&#8217;t want to sell junk, because that won&#8217;t be good for the future of your business, but when it&#8217;s good enough, sell it. Good enough is good enough. There is always a chance to make it better once you start selling it and get feedback from customers.</p>
<p>When it&#8217;s ready to roll, get that order button in front of people! Don&#8217;t be scared to sell it. Be bold. Be brave.</p>
<p>Get intense about it spreading the word. Advertise like mad, get traffic, contact other marketers, set up an affiliate program, increase your online presence.</p>
<p>Everything doesn&#8217;t have to be perfect from the start. Like I mentioned above,<strong> just get the sale first</strong>. Once you get the ball rolling, make improvements where you see fit but the main thing is to keep the ball rolling and soon enough, the snowball effect will take over.</p>

You can do this by going to Google Adwords’ Keyword Tool. To ensure the keyword is profitable, look for keywords with a CPC of $1 or more. This also goes for your secondary keywords.</p>
<p><strong><em>3)       </em></strong><strong><em>Analyze the competition of your keywords. </em></strong>When analyzing the competition of your chosen main keyword and secondary keywords, use a free Firefox plugin called <strong><a title="SEO quake" href="http://www.seoquake.com/" target="_blank">SEO Quake</a></strong>. (they also have it for Chrome and Beta for Safari and Opera)</p>
<p>Search your keyword via Google and look at the top 10 results . These are your competitors. Take note of several things:</p>
<ul>
<li>On page SEO – Check if the keyword is indicated in the Title tag, URL and description.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Off page SEO – Look at the number of backlinks from the top 10 results. At least two sites on the first page should have 0 to 100 backlinks, with PageRank 0 to 1, and a domain age of 1 year or less. Websites with authority links like .edu, .gov, DMOZ, or Yahoo Directory links are tough competitors.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Domain – If the keyword is on an exact match domain (yourkeyword.com/.net/.org), then it is tough to beat. If the keywords are located in a subdomain or subpage, then there’s better chance.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Content – Check if the keyword is on the title and if the article is about the keyword. Sometimes, the article may just mention your keyword but tackles a completely different subject.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Types of sites – If the top 10 websites are article directories, Yahoo! Answers, forums, social sites, Q&amp;A sites or other user-generated websites, you can easily beat them to the top. Websites with .gov and .edu extensions are very difficult to beat.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><em>4)      </em></strong><strong><em>Decide to move forward, or go back to step 2. </em></strong>Analyze all the information you have so far and decide if your chosen keywords have little or no competition. Otherwise, go back to step 2 and pick another keyword.</p>
<p><strong><em>5)       </em></strong><strong><em>Get an exact match domain if possible</em></strong><strong>. </strong>When going for a particular keyword, you can&#8217;t beat a domain name with those exact keyword(s) in it. This makes ranking for that keyword a whole lot easier. This is what a lot of affiliate marketers do so if you&#8217;re really serious about securing # spot for that keyword, use your main keyword as your domain name. Some experts have said that the domain name extension doesn&#8217;t matter, but if possible, I recommend going for a .com, .org or .net domain extension.</p>
<p>Using low competition keywords for your niche websites significantly reduces the amount of money and link building efforts you have to invest to get good rankings and traffic.</p>

<p>Now, I’m not saying you should bombard your customers with a whole slew of offers day after day to drain their wallets.</p>
<p>I don’t believe in becoming an offer harlot where you do nothing but blast out offers for the sake of making a buck.</p>
<p>These are your CUSTOMERS.  And so they should be treated with high regard so they love you and want to take your recommendations.</p>
<p>But, at the same time, there are several ways that you can <strong>make back-end income</strong> from your membership site without sending out an “offer of the day”.</p>
<p>Here are some ideas to help you turn your membership site into a profit-pulling machine without killing your customer list.</p>
<p><strong>1. Promote affiliate offers.</strong></p>
<p>Affiliate marketing works really well within the membership site model because you’ve built up trust with your audience. They’ve seen your monthly content and know that you offer quality. They will trust your recommendations because you’ve offered good content in the past.</p>
<p>Choose affiliate offers that tie directly into popular topics within your membership site. Re-read that last statement.  <strong>It’s all about relevance. </strong></p>
<p>Ebooks, video courses and short reports will add value for your members and boost your backend sales, but primarily as an ENHANCEMENT that is related to your content.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t need to send an email to promote it either. Instead, post an article to your membership site members with good content and a link to the recommended product.</p>
<p>*TIP* What I have always found to work best is to promote an offer that “fuels” the content.</p>
<p>Example:  If I posted content that shares “7 Ways To Make Money With Ezine Articles” I might promote a software program that automates the distribution of ezine articles.  If I shared content entitled, “7 Ways To Use PLR Videos To Up Your Profit” I might promote an offer that supplies members with PLR videos.</p>
<p>The offer becomes an extension of the content without competing with the content.</p>
<p><strong>2. Sell advertising on  your site</strong></p>
<p>You can charge a small fee per month to existing members or outside advertisers to display their text ads or display ads on your site. You can display advertising in the sidebars and just under the header of your membership site.</p>
<p>Search for advertising directories to list the advertising space and add the offer to your signature file in forums that you visit.</p>
<p>Create an “Advertise On This Site” link on your site pages.  Mention advertising in your newsletter, etc.</p>
